Indie rock outfit Dinosaur Jr. has released a new song, “Goin Down” that is now available for listen. The song brings mascis’ introspective lyrics and chugging lo-fi guitar with a killer solo midway through. Check out the single below, available exclusively via Spotify.
“Goin Down” is expected to open the band’s upcoming album Give A Glimpse of What Yer Not, set for an August 5 release via Jagjaguwar. The album will be the bands 11th entry in their prolific catalogue. The single is not the band’s first of the year – the band released “Tiny” back in May.
The group spent much of the year touring the world and stopping at festivals such as California’s Desert Stars fest. In August the band will embark on another international tour, hitting the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Germany, Sweeden, Norway, Denmark and Ireland.
Dinosaur Jr. was founded in Amherst, MA in 1984 by J Mascis, bassist and vocalist Lou Barlow, and drummer Murph. Throughout the 80’s the band came to be known as one of the most influential forces in the underground alternative rock scene. They managed to create their own strange hybrid sound with their use of feedback, loud volume, rhythmic chugging, and Masci’s distinct drawl.
