Atmospheric and haunting. The two best words to describe the music that is The Jezebels. Their air-tight sound debuted out of Australia nine years ago, but they are still taking the world by storm. The first impression they leave is one of indie music taken to a new level, one that makes you want to delve deeper into their music.
With an aura that most artists cannot pull off, each song is equal parts emotion and structure. “Long Highway” makes you want to hit the road with nothing but a full tank of gas. “A Little Piece” spells out how a broken heart feels with an eloquence none have seen before. The parts seem simple, but when put together each song feels like a movie, a complete story, from start to finish.
Since they’re coming all the way from Australia, this is a show that you won’t want to miss. Not only is the Double Door one of the greatest venues in the Chicagoland area, it has also housed many small acts that have gone on to greatness. The Jezabels certainly give the feel that they are ready and destined for greatness. With tickets only being $16 for GA ($14 if you get them early!), you can’t afford to miss this gig.
