Well-known and influential emo rock outfit Taking Back Sunday has announced a Fall tour in support of their upcoming seventh record Tidal Wave. The record will be released on September 16 via Hopeless records. Fittingly titled the “Tidal Wave Tour,” the shows will travel all across the contiguous United States. The overwhelming majority of the venues will be supported by one of the frontrunners of the new wave of emo, You Blew It!. Loose Talk and Mammoth Indigo will both be joining Taking Back Sunday for a couple dates as well.
Other than the tour though, it’s hard to not talk about the drama that’s been going on with Taking Back Sunday. On Tuesday, Billboard released an article talking about the Taking Back Sunday co-frontman Adam Lazzara becoming quite angry regarding the popular Los Angeles emo-themed party named Taking Back Tuesday. In an interview, Lazzara said “Those motherfuckers owe me some money. They’re using our name, they didn’t ask. It’s flattering, I get it. But also, I don’t want to become a parody of something I take real seriously. That’s the line that those people are walking. They need to understand that they’ve got to take care with that shit. You don’t make shirts that say, ‘Sad as fuck.’ Like you’re making a fucking joke out of it? Fuck you.’”
Apparently, the organizers and promoters of the monthly event, Barbara Szabo, Morgan Freed and T.J. Petracca, wrote “When we started this night in December 2014, it came from a place of love and admiration for the genre that saved our lives and made us who we are. This was never to be seen as a joke, and the response from our event attendees and the artists who have been involved has been incredibly positive.”
However, Lazzara attempted to his clear name with a statement. “The quote used as the headline was taken out of context and sadly my overall point was missed,” wrote Lazzara. “I said I was flattered, we all are. The fact that our music can be a part of something that brings people together to celebrate is incredible to me. I can’t even believe it. When I hear about that happening I am honestly beside myself.”
Whatever the truth is, the fact is that Taking Back Sunday is back (pun intended), and if you want to seem them live with a couple of newer emo acts, look at the following dates.
