Giraffe Tongue Orchestra Share New Song “Blood Moon”

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra have shared their latest single “Blood Moon,” a track that will be featured on the band’s upcoming album, Broken Lines, due for a September 23 release. The track features Alice In Chains singer William DuVall and members of Mastodon and The Dillinger Escape Plan.

In an interview with Rock 98.9, DuVall spoke about his satisfaction with the album.

It’s a serious, serious album, man. I could not be more proud of this thing. We just pushed each other to new heights all around, and it’s amazing… It’s such a dynamic record, and it’s just so powerful. And these are some of the best lyrics that I’ve ever written, because I was pushed to write to this really cinematic soundtrack.

DuVall went on to discuss the direction of the album, stating that Broken Lines will bring the sound fans have come to expect out of heavy, progressive metal. “A lot of riffing, a lot of stuff going on… A lot of beats per minute, a lot of beats per second. I mean, Thomas, he can scramble the eggs like nobody else. So there is a lot of that. There’s a feast for the senses. For all the musicians and musos out there, we’ve got you covered.”

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra collaborated with a couple of other rock peers to create the album. Juliette Lewis provided backup vocal for each song, while Jon Theordore of Queens of the Stone Age also appeared on a track.

Giraffe Tongue Orchestra is a supergroup consisting of Mastedon’s Brent Hinds, The Dillinger Escape Plan’s Ben Weinman, and The Mars Volta’s ex-drummer Thomas Pridgen. Although the group was formed by Hinds 5 year ago, the group did not enter studios to record Broken Lines until 2014. The album will be their first together.
