Today, OPETH announced the release of their 12th studio album titled Sorceress. The album is set for release on September 30th of this year. This will be the Swedish progressive metallers’ first effort for Nuclear Blast via their imprint label Moderbolaget Records.
Front man Mikael Åkerfeldt promises listeners that this album will be different than their others, stating “I find that once again we’ve taken a step forward. Or sideways, Or backwards. Somewhere!? It’s different! It’s extremely diverse.”
The band returned to Rockfield Studios in Wales for 12 days to record the album in the countryside. Rockfield was also instrumental to releases from Queen, Rush and Judas Priest.
To accompany the new album, the group will set out on a headlining North American tour this fall. The tour kicks off on September 24th in San Bernardino at Ozzfest Meets Knotfest. It will then come to a close on October 26th in Vancouver. Special guest The Sword will be joining the group for the shows. Check out the full list of dates below.
