American singer-songwriter Joy Williams, has just released a new song entitled “Someone to Love You (Acoustic).”
The new song comes off her new album Venus (Acoustic), which as the title implies, features stripped down versions of some of the songs from her previous album Venus, and also includes some new tracks as well.
As Williams mentions in her press release, she recorded these songs at around the time she began recording her album Venus, but the songs had a long lasting effect on her: “Before Venus was fully produced, I began by recording these songs as they were first written: with just my voice and a guitar. There was always an energy to these raw recordings, a kind of subtle mystery within the simplicity,” Williams says. “I needed to go on a creative sonic journey for myself for the full solo album, and I did. But over time, it’s like these songs kept asking me to look at them again, and share them in their rawest state. As if the music I’d taken to outer space asked to be sung on the front porch again… and I listened.”
The new song, “Someone To Love You (Acoustic)” is perfectly intimate. With just her voice and guitar, Williams creates a song that is heart wrenching and incredibly beautiful.

Joy Williams began her music career as the second-half of indie folk rock band, The Civil Wars. In recent years, Williams has embarked on a successful solo career.
