Atmospheric doom artist Darkher recently premiered a new single, “Wars”, which will feature on her upcoming LP Realms. Darkher, the solo project of brooding singer/songwriter Jayn H. Wissenberg, will release her new album on August 19.
Darkher debuted “Wars” through metal website MetalSucks. They heaped high praise upon the new track, and said the single made them want to listen to Wissenberg’s previous EP. Read their review below.
“It’s easy to see why Darkher caught on so quickly in both arenas the music sounds rich and layered, haunting and arresting, both calm and powerful coming through our desktop speakers, and it doesn’t take much imagination to envision how completely enveloping and engrossing it’d be in the live sphere. While Wissenberg’s vocals are a big draw — right up front — none of it works without the propulsive and arresting mood of the music, perfectly composed to match.”
A press release further clarified the nature of Darkher’s new LP.
Realms features nine distinctive, dynamic and dramatic tracks that are impossible to resist. Songs such as the sternly imploring “Moths”, the driving “Wars”, with its signature drum march, or the sinister, unfathomable “Buried” or “Foregone” may be mentioned as cornerstones of an album that, due to its quality and diversity, bears the potential earmarks of a future classic. Lyrically, Realms mirrors the ominous, awe-inspiring character of the music; the tales on the album lie somewhere between this sphere and the unseen worlds before and beyond. Darkher songs reveal Wissenberg’s relationship with fear, death and spirituality, and question how love can connect souls from past, present and future.
Wissenburg last released music on 2014’s The Kingdom Field EP. The West Yorkshire-based artist will release her new LP through Prophecy Productions.
