Sonic Youth Announce Vinyl Reissues For Murray Street, Sonic Nurse, And Rather Ripped

New York City based noise rock legends, Sonic Youth, have announced the reissue of some of their beloved albums.

The albums to be reissued include Murray Street, Sonic Nurse and Rather Ripped, released in 2002, 2004 and 2006, respectively.

The new reissues will be released in vinyl format, but for those without a turntable, there is no need to worry; the albums will also be reissued digitally with HD quality sound.

The exciting reissues will be released via Universal Music Enterprises and is expected to hit the stands July 15.

As Pitchfork reports, the reissue of these albums is an effort on the part of Universal Music Enterprises to revive the band’s DGC/Geffen Records catalog. The band has so far reissues some of their previous albums including Goo and Washing Machine, and the band is also expected to release more reissues of their later work as well.

Sonic Youth was formed in 1981 in New York City, with founding members Kim Gordon, Thurston Moore, and Lee Ranaldo, and later included drummer Steve Shelley. The band’s career was a rather prominent one and established them as a pivotal part of New York City’s music scene.

The band managed to release a total of 15 albums before disbanding in 2011.
