Front 242 Announces No Comment + Politics Of Pressure Reissues And Box Set

Long-running Belgian electronic music group Front 242 is celebrating the 35th anniversary of their founding in 1981. To commemorate this accomplishment their label Alfa Matrix is reissuing their second LP No Comment from 1984 and the 1985 EP Politics of Pressure. In addition to this vinyl reissue, the label is also packing the two records together in a box set that includes a bunch of collectibles and memorabilia from the group.

Other than their unique and groundbreaking music, a major contribution of Front 242 to the legacy and history of electronic music is their coining of the term Electronic Body Music. Now considered the “godfathers” of EBM, it was on No Comment that they coined the phrase with their inclusion of “Electronic Body Music Composed And Produced On Eight Tracks By Front 242” on the album. Front 242 had solidified its core lineup  of Daniel B., Patrick Codenys, Jean-Luc De Meyer and Richard “23” Jonckheere when these two records were released in the early 80s. The two albums became cult-favorites and attracted a wider audience to the growing electronic dance punk movement. The album is considered one of the landmark releases in the history of electronic and industrial music, bringing them and similar artists a large underground following.
