LISTEN: Aphex Twin Releases New Songs “2X202-ST5” and “CHEETAHT7b”

Aphex Twin releases two new songs “2X202-ST5” and “CHEETAH7b” from his upcoming album Cheetah EP

Aphex Twin just shared with us the two latest single’s off of his upcoming album. “2X202-ST5” premiered on BBC Radio 6 today and you can find it at the (1:56:27) mark. “CHEETAH7b” also premiered earlier today on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio, which you can listen to below. “2X202-ST5” and “CHEETAH7b” follows Aphex’s latest “CIRKLON3” which came out earlier this month. “CIRKLON3” was accompanied by Aphex Twin’s first video in 17 years, and was directed by an Irish 12 year-old named Ryan Wyer.

The new song has a great upbeat techno feel that includes a plethora of other sounds to create a unique other-worldly listening experience for fans.

The Cheetah EP follows Aphex Twin’s latest album Syro, which received rave reviews for its unique mix of several different sounds including disco, drum, bass, and techno. Aphex Twin delivered 65 minutes of precisely mixed and arranged electronic music, all while staying true to his sound. Syro is recommended to be listened via headphones, because of its complexity and constant momentum leading up the to the calming finale “aisatsana [102]”. News of the Cheetah EP release coming just two years after Syro is exciting for fans alike of Aphex Twin after waiting up to 13 years between Drukqs and Syro. The tedious and thought out nature of the release of Aphex Twin’s upcoming EP gives all fans another reason to be excited as this may be a sign that the electronic artist has another incredible piece of work in his hands. With his new single “2X202-ST5”  Aphex Twin is continuing to show his creativity and originality.

Aphex Twin also encourages his listeners and producer enthusiasts to “experiment and create some sounds of your own”, but before you go and create any “patch from scratch” he encourages to “first try editing some sounds we’ve already made for you”. If you are able to create any “superb patches” that you feel are good enough to impress fellow Cheetah EP listeners then Aphex Twin asks you “send a MIDI System Exclusive Dump of them, on a disc to us at WARP”. Even better, if those at WARP think your sounds are also impressive they say “you could be rewarded for your efforts!”.

The Cheetah EP features:

-Digital Wave Sequencing Synthesizer
-Sounds programmed to sequence through changing waveforms as the note plays, giving exceptional movement and character to the music
-15 Note polyphonic
-Velocity Sensitive
-Multi-Timbral
-Stereo Output
-Fully programmable from the front panel
-LED display
