This past January, Paramore officially confirmed that they would be recording a new album very soon. The recording is now underway and studio sessions are in full swing. However, touring drummer, Aaron Gillespie, stated back in February that he would not be recording with the band on the new album.
Have no fear though, rumors have speculated that founding drummer, Zac Farro, will be returning to the group to record the new tracks. Over the weekend, Paramore’s official twitter account posted a picture of rehearsals in which Farro is clearly visible behind the drum set.
Farro left the band in December of 2010 after careful deliberation and advice from friends. Rumors were spread that he quit because his brother, guitarist Josh Farro, had quit earlier. Zac quickly denied these and stated he left because of homesickness and the desire to reinvent himself.
Farro’s return comes as a pleasant surprise to fans who have reacted positively to the news.
UPDATE (2/5): While it was pretty clear that Farro had rejoined Paramore a few months ago, the band has made it even more official. On the front page of their site, the band is selling merchandise depicting Farro as a child, stating “I’m Back.” Additionally, the band left this post on their Facebook.
And then this one:
No word yet on any official details on the band’s follow up to their self-titled fourth LP, but the band has continually posted updates from the studio.
