Suicide Squad Sountrack With Grimes, Action Bronson, Dan Auerbach And More Announces For August 2016 Release

Warner Bros. has announced that the soundtrack for upcoming Marvel blockbuster film Suicide Squad will be released on Aug. 5. It will be comprised of 14 tracks in total, including eight new contributions from well-established artists.

The soundtrack is set to feature a wildly diverse range of new tracks. Grimes, Kevin Gates, and Kehlani will contribute new solo productions. Panic! At the Disco will cover Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Unlikely contributions abound, from Skrillex and Rick Ross to Action Bronson and Dan Auberbach to the massive posse cut “Sucker For Pain”, which features Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Imagine Dragons Logic, Ty Dolla $ign, and X Ambassadors. No new tracks will be released as singles prior to the album’s release.

Additional artists featured on the album include Eminem, twenty one pilots, and Credence Clearwater Revival. They each contribute previously released songs to the track list.

In recent years, Marvel and Warner Bros have consistently produced acclaimed soundtracks, including original scores (Ant-Man) and compilation albums (Guardians of the Galaxy). This comes in direct contrast with early Marvel soundtracks, which often peaked high on the Billboard charts but often lacked coherency and purpose. These productions, including Blade (1998), Spider-Man (2002), and Fantastic Four, consisted primarily of cringe worthy nu-Metal and rock radio staples.

Suicide Squad is out in theaters Aug. 5, the same day as its companion soundtrack. The film stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck (reprising his role as Batman).
