After just announcing their formation in April, Gone is Gone has released a new video for “Stolen From Me”. The supergroup is made up of members from Mastadon, Queens of the Stone Age, and At the Drive-In.

The song is taken from the bands upcoming self-titled EP, which is set to release July 8. “Stolen From Me” first premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beat’s 1 Radio show yesterday, and is the third release by the band already since it’s creation. “Stolen From Me” follows the releases of “Violescent” and “Starlight”, which are also accompanied by videos. The “Stolen From Me” video was directed by Raul Gonzo and features some nice visuals of the band rocking out in a grim colored environment.

Gone is Gone is made up of Mastadon’s singer/bassist Troy Sanders, Queens of the Stone Age’s guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, At the Drive-In’s drummer Tony Hajjar, and instrumentalist Mike Zarin.

The bands history started when At the Drive-In’s Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin started to create music together. The two then decided to bring in Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen to take the lead guitar. It was then Troy Van Leeuwen who decided to ask Mastadon’s lead singer/bassist Troy Sanders to come in and provide vocals.

Troy Sander’s describes the call from Leeuwen in an interview with Billboard via NME, “My phone rings, and it’s one of my musical heroes, Troy van Leeuwen”. Sander’s received the call while waiting in line at a DMV in Atlanta, where Mastadon is based. “That was a phone call that just threw a giant rainbow into the miserable DMV environment where I was standing”, Sander’s says. Troy Sander’s seems excited about the new opportunities and musical vision that Gone is Gone has to offer. “It was almost like the stars aligned to make this band happen”, he says. “I certainly wasn’t looking for any other music, but now that we’ve worked on lots of material and played our first show and have lots of plans in the future, I realize that this thing just came together so great. It’s so invigorating to be a part of that I think it’s obviously meant to be”.

Sander’s also reported that the band has an excess of material that just didn’t make the cut for the album, “With the eight tracks that are coming out on this record in July, I think it really touches on everything that’s to come, because since the recording of these first eight songs, we’ve recorded and written many, many, many other tracks, and I think it’s very promising to the four of use because we realize how very far we’ve grown in just a short amount of time”. What is the possibility of the release of this music, you ask. On that Sanders says, “It could easily be an album format. We’re also hoping to collaborate on many levels with various artists on a multitude of platforms. We would like to really be able to compose, collaborate, create outside of just being on a stage at a venue. We were fascinated and all have various experiences composing for film. We would like to collaborate with virtual-reality artists. We would like to do interactive travel and art shows”

He continued, “We’ve got loads of ideas that we hope some of them will actually come to fruition at some point in time. I guess that would be the anomaly perhaps of what this band is. We are not going to rely on releasing the record, touring for 16 months and then repeat because we physically cannot do that. We just hope this band and the music to come will further open doors of opportunities and possibilities to tap into very interesting collaborations with artists on many levels. I know it’s a big dream, but we’re dreamers and our hearts are full of gold”. This is exciting news for fans alike, and it seems this is just the beginning.
