Ghost has just announced the “Popestar” tour, in which the band’s bizarre and ritualistic shows will grace 35 different cities across the United States. Tickets for these shows, referred to as “rituals”, will go on sale 10 a.m. local time on June 17th. The tickets for certain rituals will contain a download code that allows fans to access new music as the tour begins. Additionally, VIP packages for the tour will be available to purchase. They will be touring alongside Modern Baseball, Bully, and Fucked Up.

Horror-themed Swedish heavy metal band Ghost exploded in popularity through the release of their 2010 vinyl-exclusive single “Elizabeth”. Their major label debut Infestissumam won the Grammi (Swedish equivalent of the Grammy’s ) for best hard rock/metal album. They performed the album’s lead single, “Cirice”, in a pre-recorded taping that won them the Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2016. In their eccentric performances, five of the six band members (the instrumentalists) wear identical skull-like costumes that conceal their faces. These five are referred to as “The Nameless Ghouls”. The vocalist, a Satanic priest mascot character known as Papa Emeritus, wears papal robes and demonic face paint. There have been three versions of Papa Emeritus to appear so far. All members of the band are completely anonymous, and are only referred to as either Papa Emeritus or one of his Nameless Ghouls.

Ghost will also appear at Revolution Rock Festival, alongside Slayer and Avenged Sevenfold.
