Earlier this week, Monster Energy Aftershock finalized and publically released its 2016 lineup. The festival continues a now five-year tradition of bringing together a collection of 90’s hard rock titans and modern favorites, this year led by Tool and Avenged Sevenfold.
Monster Energy Aftershock will be held at Sacramento’s Discovery Park the weekend of October 22. Acts ranging from rock and metal mainstays Primus, Slayer, Korn, and Disturbed to critical favorites Deafhaven and Baroness exemplify the festival’s overall strength beyond its headliners.
“We’re excited to give fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Tool, Avenged Sevenfold, Primus, Slayer, Korn, Disturbed and the rest of this great lineup all together during this special weekend,” said Monster Energy Aftershock founder and producer Danny Wimmer. “Discovery Park is such a unique venue that allows us to put on an experience on a grand scale, but in an intimate setting that sets AFTERSHOCK apart.”
Tool, who will also headline Voodoo Fest later in October, have not headlined a US festival since River’s Edge 2012. Lead singer Maynard James Keenan will pull double duty, performing with Tool on October 22 and side project Puscifer on October 23.
In addition to live music, Monster Energy Aftershock boasts a diverse collection of additional activities. Jack Daniels and Monster Energy will operate corporate giveaway booths throughout the festival, while Coors will run functioning pop-up sports bar. Keep Golf Metal, a movement to bring festivalgoers to the game of golf, will host a nine-hole putt putt course. Multiple charity and non-profit organizations, including Take Me Home Animal Rescue, Life Looks Good On You, Dyin 2 Live/Fxck Cancer, and Living the Dream, are listed as festival sponsors.
General Admission and VIP weekend passes are available for purchase through Aftershock’s website. VIP passes include access to VIP entrance lanes into venue, shaded VIP hang area with seating for dining, seated and standing viewing area of main stage South video screens featuring live feed from main stages inside VIP hang area, upgraded food and drink selections, dedicated VIP restrooms, and a commemorative Monster Energy Aftershock 2016 laminate. Single day general admission and parking/shuttle passes are also available.
