WATCH: Band Of Horses Releases New Video For “Whatever, Wherever”

Band of Horses shared new song “Whatever, Wherever” Friday on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio and later released an accompanying video. Along with previous songs “Casual Party”, “Solemn Oath”, and J. Mascis collaboration “In Drawer”, “Whatever, Wherever” will feature on upcoming album Why Are You Ok.

“Whatever, Wherever” finds Ben Bridwell’s band returning to its acoustic, pastoral roots, both in the song and the video. Bridwell’s trademark upper register vocals delicately cruise throughout the song at steady tempo, backed by unobtrusive and simple instrumentation.

The song’s video proceeds at a similarly slow and even pace. The family-oriented footage oscillates between footage of Band of Horses playing the song acoustically and personal family-home videos. Heartwarming shots of the band with family at their homes contrast with the songs lyrics, which question the usage of the phrase “whatever”. Notably, the home video footage comes directly from the band members themselves.

Band of Horses will release Why Are You Ok on Jun 10 via Interscope. Produced by Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, the album will be the band’s fifth studio album and first since 2012’s Mirage Rock.
