The Head And The Heart have just announced that their new album, Signs of Light, will be released September 9. The record will be the first Warner Bros. Records release for the band and their third full length album to date.

The group also released the first single off the new album, “All We Ever Knew.” The track is a solid indie tune, with nostalgic lyrics and a “la la la la” verse that just makes it even more delightful. If “All We Ever Knew” is any indication, the new album will contain a healthy amount of musical deviation while also sticking to the classic The Head And The Heart sound that fans fell in love with.

According to the press release, the group went their separate ways after the release of their last record, 2013’s Let’s Be Still. Pianist Kenny Hensley learned to fly planes and enrolled in kung-fu training in China, bassist Chris Zasche packed up a camper and went off the grid in the Canadian Rockies, and drummer Tyler Williams immersed himself in the burgeoning music scene in Richmond, VA. Of course, they all regrouped last year to create Signs of Light and adapt their sound, and the time apart may have been an advantage. “It almost felt like we were a new band, trying things we hadn’t tried,” Zasche recalls. “We stayed at a bungalow on the beach. We’d wake up, have coffee and go boogie boarding. We were ready and excited to be back together.”

The Head And The Heart have a busy summer ahead of them. The band will perform “All We Ever Knew” on  Jimmy Kimmel Live!  June 21st, appear in the first two episodes of the upcoming Cameron Crowe Showtime series Roadies, and embark on a string of North American tour dates at the beginning of June.
