Singer/songwriter Angel Olsen released a video for her new song “Intern” on June 1st via YouTube. According to Shazam, an online streaming app, it is from her new album called My Woman(no release date has been announced for the album at this time). Her last album, released in 2014, was Burn Your Fire for No Witness.
The video was directed by Olsen, but had some input from Ashley Connor and Jethro Waters. The video, which was released with no announcement, shows Olsen wearing a silver wig, and headset. Her whereabouts change throughout scenes, at one point standing in front of a black backdrop, another she is sitting in front of a trailer, conducting what seems to be an interview.
The video is only 2 minutes and 19 seconds, and immediately jumps into Olsen singing to the camera. The tempo is slow to begin with, but Olsen’s vocals are prominent throughout, with light instrumental music that can be heard in the background. Just as the listener gets the feeling the song is about to pick up, thanks to a slight tempo change, the video begins to cut in and out with a static screen, and finally ends as if the signal has been lost.
