Sasquatch Festival 2016 took place over this past weekend in Gorge, Washington. A wildfire three miles from the grounds couldn’t stop the festival-goers, but high winds did affect some.
According to Brooklyn Vegan, “Houndmouth and Saint Motel‘s sets were canceled as was Leon Bridges‘ but he ended up making the best of it, playing an impromptu acoustic set on a pathway on The Hill.”
Sunday’s lineup included performance by The Cure, Alabama Shakes, Mac DeMarco, Bully, Yo La Tengo, and so much more.
Tacocat experienced the wrath of the winds, whose noon opening set on the main Sasquatch stage was moved to later in the day in the El Chupacabra tent.
The main issue was the wildfire that was growing about five miles away from where artists were performing.
According to Billboard, “Yo La Tengo was performing while smoke was visible from the festival grounds, and no announcements in reference to the wildfire had been made.”
Local news stations confirmed that the fire was burning away from the venue, not toward it. Festival-goers were getting updates through the Sasquatch Twitter.
Although the winds and fire may have caused some issues, it didn’t seem as though the festival-goers were affected by it.
