Jill Scott @ The Fillmore Miami Beach 8/30

Jill Scott is coming to The Fillmore at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach on Tuesday, August 30th. Jill Scott has been releasing great Neo-Soul and R&B music since her first album came out in 2000. Her voice is one of the best in the business and this show will be great for fans of soul.

Before Jill Scott became a singer that won a Grammy, she was a poet and a spoken word artist. She was first noticed by members of The Roots and collaborated with them to create some of her first music in the studio. After this collaboration Jill Scott became a singer in earnest and released her first album in a three part series, “Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1”, in 2000. Scott is an artist in the genre of Neo-Soul, which is at its core soul music with great singing, but it isn’t afraid to take influence from other places such as hip hop and the spoken word poetry that Jill Scott started with. Her latest release was her album “Woman” in 2015 which you can listen to in full on her YouTube channel. Also you can listen to her song “A Long Walk” off of her 2000 album to get a sense of her older music.

Jill Scott will perform at The Fillmore which is the go to venue on Miami Beach for all kinds of different artists. Listen to some great soul tunes and chill on Miami Beach with some great food and sights and it will be a great night for sure. I would definitely recommend Jill Scott if you want some down to earth singing and great vibes.

Henry Ehlebracht: I am an NYU student from Miami who loves writing. I am a dual major in Philosophy and Journalism and I'd love to share my thoughts on music with you. My two favorite music genres are definitely hip hop and electronic/dance, but I'm really open to anything that piques my interest. I'm currently in New York for school. Electronic album reviewer for MXDWN. Although I write about music for the website, my media interests stretch into many areas including movies and video games.
