The Californian garage-psych band, Thee Oh Sees, has announced the release of their new album A Weird Exits.
Last year, they released Mutilator Defended At Last LP, and their newest album will be released August 12th via Castle Face records. Castle Face records is a label based in California, but that is not what makes this an interesting label. John Dwyer, front man of Thee Oh Sees, helps run the label with a few other men.
Mutilator Defeated At Last is the group’s ninth full-length album to be released. This number does not include the number of small releases that have been put out. Despite the short “transition period” that the band went through, they continue to release songs and albums like candy on Halloween.
This album is the first to reveal the bands new members. This album will feature drummers: Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon, bassist Tim Hellman, and front man John Dwyer. The previous members of the band were John Dwyer, guitar and vocals, Brigid Dawson, vocals and tambourine, Petey Dammit (occasionally listed at Petey Dammit!) on guitar, and Mike Shoun on drums.
The first single on the album is “Plastic Plant,” which plays over almost 6 minutes, and builds “to one raging climax after another while the rhythm section keeps things simmering even during the slow parts.”
The band officially announced the release of the album with a press release that includes the new album, the new single, and an upcoming tour in the US and Europe.
