Slayer is bringing thrash metal to the Fillmore in Miami Beach on Wednesday, September 28th. The long lived band will be opened by other masters of thrash metal Anthrax and Death Angel. With the recent release of their album Repentless in 2015 and new members Gary Holt and Paul Bostaph, the band is still going strong.
Slayer has been active since the 80’s and is cited as one of the fathers of thrash metal among others. Founding member Jeff Hanneman died in 2013, but that has not stopped the other members of the band from continuing the legacy that he started. They have released a ton of material since the bands inception and continue to do so. Known for the controversial topics and imagery evoked by their music, Slayer has been a fixture in heavy metal for quite some time. They have dabbled with themes of satanism, violence and hate, but all in the name of some great metal jams. One of their most popular songs that also conveys their image perfectly is “Angel of Death” off their breakout 1986 record “Reign in Blood”.
The band will play at the Fillmore in Miami Beach which has been a great venue for all kinds of different artists. Standing space in front of the stage is first come first serve so I would recommend getting there as early as possible. In addition to standard tickets there are also special VIP and side stage tickets that can be purchased if you are a massive Slayer fan. Slayer is not the only reason to come to the concert though as Anthrax, one of the other big four thrash metal bands of the 80s, and Death Angel will also be there. This should be a great night for metal fans in a great area and venue.
