Quicksand & Converge @ House of Vans

The summer shows at the House of Vans are in Brooklyn are always something to look forward to in NYC and this year on July 6th, you will be able to catch post-hardcore/alternative vets Quicksand and Converge.

Where would underground alternative rock be without Quicksand? The band came out with two records, both of which are renowned classics in the genre, and then split up in 1995. They had a short run in the late 90’s before breaking up again only to reform once more in 2012. Although it has been about four years since their reformation, the band doesn’t play very often and the opportunity to catch them in NYC this summer is one you’re not going to want to miss. Although they haven’t released new material in over 20-years, their debut album, Slip, is regarded as one of the best of its kind. Check out the song Fazer that appeared on the record.

Converge will be co-headlining, and it will be their second outing at the House of Vans in Brooklyn. Formed in the early 90’s the band is a cornerstone of all things metal and hardcore. The band has earned themselves a “legendary” status, especially due to their massive contributions to the hardcore and metal genre. The vocalist, Jacob Bannon, is one of the principal founders and operators of the renowned hardcore label, Deathwish Inc. They’ve been pushing out records for over 20-years and their most definitive (arguably, of course) is Jane Doe. Check out their song Concubine that appeared on the record.Jane Doe. The show is free, like most House of Vans shows, but you will have to RSVP on the House of Vans website before the show. RSVP begins on June 28th and if you miss out, then you’re out of luck. This is not a show you’re going to want to miss and one that you might not get the chance to see again. Oh and get there as early as possible – the place fills fast.
