Back in April, Sia blew us away with her performance at Coachella. With the help of appearances by Kristen Wiig, Paul Dano, Maddie Ziegler, and Tig Notaro the singer-songwriter created a set of performance – some live and others visualized onscreen – that gave her music artist interpretation, while the singer herself sang from a distance. Ziegler specifically brought the emotions of Sia’s lyrics to life with her interpretive dancing and performing. Sia wasn’t the Coachella headliner, but she did steal the show.
Following her highly lauded performance, the singer-songwriter has released a schedule for the “Nostalgia for the Present” tour – Sia’s first in 5 years. She has shared 20 dates in North America this fall and disclosed two more stops to be added in locations that are “TBA”. Joining Sia on the road as support acts will be universally acclaimed alternative R&B artist Miguel, along with electro-soul duo AlunaGeorge.
Sia has been promoting her latest album This Is Acting, which was released in January and spawned hits such as “Cheap Thrills” and “Alive”. The album reached the top 10 internationally – number 3 in the UK, number 4 in the US, and number 1 in Australia. The record is a collection of songs that were written for – and rejected by – pop artists including Katy Perry, Beyonce, Rhianna, Demi Lovato, and Adele.
Considering Sia’s successful 2016, the list may not continue on much longer. According to NME, Sia has written a song for Blondie’s upcoming album. Little information is known about the song, but Debbie Harry has shown enthusiasm for it, calling it “amazing” and stating that it “lifts right into this chorus”.
