MSTRKRFT Announce New Album Operator For July 2016 Release

MSTRKRFT is ready for a comeback. After returning from a five-year hiatus in March with the single “Little Red Hen,” the Canadian dance duo has announced that their new album, Operator, will be out July 22 via Last Gang. They also released a single, “Party Line,” now available for streaming.

“Party Line” is a fun track comprised of blaring synths, demanding vocals and an incredibly catchy chorus. It features vocals from Nation of Ulysses/the Make-Up/Chain and the Gang’s Ian Svenonius, all of whom brought the track to life. “We had really strong instrumental piece with the working title ‘Party Line’ that demanded a vocal with a certain swagger,” MSTRKRFT co-founder Al-P told Billboard. “Ian was able re-contextualize the title and make it work with the lyrics he wrote, which became something we connected with personally, and fit perfectly with the entire album as a body of work.”

The group has been open about the new album and what to expect. In an interview with mxdwn last month, Al-P stated that a common theme within Operator is “being creative with very few elements,” and “Little Red Hen” was a prime example of this. The group released their last album, Fist of God, in 2009 while it has been a decade since their debut, The Looks. MSTRKRFT will soon embark on a North American tour that will make its way to Demcer, San Francisco, Chicago and several other cities.
