Chvrches have just released an original song that was written for the upcoming video game Mirror’s Edge Catalyst titled “Warning Call”.

The Scottish stnthpop group are no rookies to creating a sound track to the video game world, being featured on such big franchises as FIFA. Now they will be featured on the upcoming video game Mirror’s Edge Catalyst with their new single “Warning Call.” The new game will be featured on major gaming consoles such as PS4, PC and Xbox One. The game is reboot of the mid 2000s game Mirror’s Edge, according to Pitchfork. The game is a highly anticipated favorite to the gaming community as it has been building suspense for nearly 5 years now. The group had this to say about their involvement with the game.

“We were honored to be asked to contribute to the soundtrack for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst,” the band‘s Iain Cook said in press release. “The sound of Chvrches‘ music resonates with the minimalist sci-fi dystopia of the Mirror’s Edge world, and we feel that the song complements the drama, emotion and empowering themes of Faith’s story.”

The themes that they are mentioning come from the game’s women lead as a daring Runner who uncovers a hidden truth within the walls of the city of Glass, as described by the game’s creators. The game is highly empowering as it has become a rarity to see a women lead and central theme, aside from the classic Tomb Raider. This sequel is set to be a prequel to the original and will expand on Faith’s, main character, backstory. The new track can be streamed below along with a story trailer for the video game.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
