Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Nico Yaryan is releasing a new LP, What A Tease, on June 3, and in preparation, has released his new single “You Belong To Me”.
The track features some delightfully hazy production, backed by intriguing lyrics, featuring a driving guitar and keyboard rhythm up front in the mix. It’s the kind of song that warrants multiple listens, and is a well crafted piece of pop excellence with a dynamic edge. There’s more just one central genre of music in play here, and the sound benefits greatly from that. Snippets of alternative rock, R&B and soul are in play here, making for considerable replay value.
The song officially dropped today, May 11, and is the third song from the album that has been released, following “Just Tell Me” and “Old Gloria”. We did a premier on a live video for “Old Gloria”, as well as the music of Yaryan, several months ago, which you can check out here.
As for the album, it will be Yaryan’s first, and promises to be a great release featuring 11 cuts, dealing with the topic of long distance love. If the rest of the tracks follow in the same manner as “You Belong To Me”, you can expect to see What A Tease on more than a few year-end lists for 2016. It’s all building up to be the perfect album for this Summer, and the June 3rd release date certainly allows that to be the case. The record will be released via Partisan Records.
