Three years after the release of their first album, I’m Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, Nashville punk band Diarrhea Planet are set to release their second album, Turn to Gold. In preparation of the release, the band has released the single “Bob Dylan’s Grandma”.
This catchy song immediately invites the listener in, and slowly prepares them for a tune that will surely play repeatedly in their heads. Opening with a guitar solo, followed by the beating of the drums, the song makes the listener want immediately turn on 2000s style Weezer or Jimmy Eat World.
The lyrics don’t give listeners the idea that these rock stars want to hang out with Bob Dylan’s grandma, but rather they give the feel of being at a house party with a killer garage band playing. The band is once again working with Vance Powell Grammy award winning producer, who has worked with some big names like Jack White and Chris Stapleton. According to Powell, the bands second album is best described as “stoner ear candy.”
