LISTEN: The Melvins Release Cover Of “I Want to Tell You” By The Beatles

The Melvins have been mainstays in the world of punk rock for the better part of three decades. They have influenced everyone from Nirvana to Mastodon, while grinding out their own unique, sludgy style of music. These sounds don’t traditonally get associated with the Beatles, but regardless the Melvins latest album covers the Beatles “I Want to Tell You” and it’s pretty damm cool.

The track comes off of the album Basses Loaded, which will come out June 3rd on Ipepac Records. The LP includes six different bass players: Steve McDonald (Red Kross), J.D. Pinkus (Butthole Surfers), Jared Warren (Big Business), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle), Melvins drummer Dale Cover and Krist Novoselic (Nirvana). The Melvins just finished their latest tour earlier this week after a three-night stand at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, but they’ll be back on the road at the end of summer. After a couple European festival dates in June — the Temples Festival in Bristol, U.K., and Hellfest in Clisson, France — they’ll embark on another U.S. tour starting in early August.

Tickets go on sale Friday.
