Amanda Palmer Announces New Album You Got Me Singing for July 2016 Release

Amanda Palmer is no stranger to releasing cover albums. On February 6th, Palmer and Jherek Bischoff released a David Bowie covers EP simply titled, Strung Out in Heaven.

Palmer released her first full-band recording in two years earlier this year. The song “Machete”, was created with the help of some of Palmer’s friends and supporters. Jherek Bischoff, Ben Folds, and Ryan Lerman each contribute a little something to the track. Prior to the release of “Machete”, Palmer stepped away from the spotlight after a longtime, close friend lost his long fight to leukimia.

With the release of her songs and albums, the question of how said songs should be released to the public. Should anyone deal with labels anymore? Should artists focus on streaming, and crowd sourcing? Palmer has gone down her own route to get her songs out there. Keeping her plan quite secret, she has been gathering backers using patreon.com. With the use of this site, Palmer has gotten the support from 7,000 people, who will throw in a dollar each time a song is released. What this allows her to do is make music at her own pace, and then share said music for free.

Fans are anxiously waiting for her to release a solo album, in the mean time, Palmer is rewarding the fan’s patience with another cover album.You Got Me Singing features her father Jack, and will be released in July.The songs aren’t the only  pieces Palmer and her father are covering. The album cover art is an homage to Dylan’s Bringing it All Back Home.
