Sunn O))), the Seattle-based metal rock band have announced the release for their new live album. The album’s title НЕЖИТЬ: живьём в России 11 августа 2015, references the location of the album’s recording. Translated, the title reads: NOLIFE: Alive In Moscow 11 August 2015.
Last year, Sunn O))) were invited to play in Moscow, Russia and their performance was positively received. The band, thus decided to compile the recordings of the soundboard and of the audience’s recordings, into one album. As the band reports, Joel Grind mixed and Brad Boatright mastered the live album.
The album is set to drop May 29, 2016 on their label Southern Lord. It will be available to purchase as a limited edition vinyl pressings and will be accompanied with a digital download code. Pre-orders are already available to purchased, and can be found here.
Sunn O))) were formed in Seattle, Washington in 1998. Their sound is known for being a distinctive and experimental form of metal, with very heady and atmospheric tunes. Over the years the band have released seven studio albums, and their most recent was their 2015 album Kannon.
The band has also been touring around the country, and have several more stops in the coming months. Though the band had planned to perform at Austin’s Levitation Festival, rough weather cancelled the festival. Nonetheless, the band have more than enough tour dates to make up for the cancellation.
