Back in March, Hatebreed announced the upcoming release of their next album, The Concrete Confessional, due to be released May 13. The band discussed the album, promising record that will address current issues, such as moral decay, terrorism, police brutality, greed, and the withering American Dream. Frontman Jamey Jasta discusses one song in particular (“A.D.”) with Blabbermouth as “a way that I could voice my frustration about the loss of opportunities available to the average guy… With the government and big business drowning in corruption and greed, the average person is being squeezed, so achieving the American Dream is becoming less and less real.”
Now, the hardcore metal band is following through on the promise to discuss these big topics by sharing the upcoming album’s first video, “Looking Down The Barrel Of Today.” Check out the full video below.
Opening with the text “Welcome To Two Minutes And Forty-Seven Seconds With Hatebreed,” the video is a performance piece that was filmed earlier this month in the band’s rehearsal studio in Connecticut. Throughout the song a number of text messages appear, addressing the influence heavy metal can have on its listeners, explaining that what the band creates is more than just music but messages of encouragement. The songs, their lyrics, and the text (written by Jamey Jasta) in the clip all serve as a testament to the positive spirit that lives in the band’s body of work.
The messages conclude with a call to action, imploring the listeners to support their favorite metal bands the same way Hatebreed rocks out: relentlessly.
The members of Hatebreed – vocalist Jamey Jasta, guitarists Wayne Lozinak and Frank Novinec, bassist Chris Beattie and Matt Byrne on drums – have are currently on the road for a European tour and will begin a North American trek on May 13 in Cleveland, OH.
