The recently formed supergroup Gone is Gone, has just announced the date of release for their new EP. Though the band announced their formation only a few days ago, the band already plans to release an EP for this July.

Gone is Gone is a music group chock full of premium alternative rock stars. Their lineup includes the singer/bassist of Mastodon, Troy Sanders, Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, and Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin the drummer and guitarist/keyboardist, respectively, of At The Drive-In.

The band’s debut EP is self-titled and set to be released July 8th, 2016 via Rise Records. The EP comes with eight-tracks, and so far the band have released one single. The single, entitled “Violescent” takes cues from Mastodon and At The Drive-In, with loud, grimy and rugged rock sound that they are known for. “Violescent” has influences of metal rock, including that of bands such as Tool. Take a listen to the song below.

Gone is Gone was formed when Tony Hajjar and Mike Zarin were in the process of writing music for movie trailers and had the idea to start the group. After a conversation, Troy Van Leeuwen joined the band, and subsequently Troy Sanders joined when hearing the music from Hajjar and Zarin.

The members of the band have been busy with their other projects as well. In 2014, Mastodon released an album entitled Once More ‘Round the Sun and Van Leeuwen is touring with bandmate Josh Homme and Iggy Pop in support of their album Post Pop Depression.

The EP Gone is Gone will be available July 8th, 2016. In the meantime, listen to “Violescent” and take a look at the track listing below.
