Beyonce Releases New Album Lemonade Featuring Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Jack White And James Blake

In a surprise move from the pop superstar, Beyonce has released a new LP, Lemonade, streaming exclusively on Tidal. The album features guest performances from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Jack White, James Blake and The Weeknd.

The album’s release came on the same night that Beyonce debuted her HBO special “Lemonade”. The film ultimately turned out to be a visual album, after early reports that it would be a “docu-style special”, and features cameo appearances from Jay-Z and Serena Williams.

Of course, her last album, 2013’s Beyonce, was also a surprise release, so this is hardly new territory. The eclectic mix of guest performers however, most of which do not share the same musical ground as Beyonce, should make for an interesting listen.

Beyonce was also featured, along with Coldplay, as a part of this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. She was criticized by numerous outlets for her controversial portrayal, and representation of extremist African-American organizations in her stage show, during the performance of the song “Formations”. She later denounced the criticism, defending her right to celebrate her “roots and culture during Black History Month”.

Her Formation World Tour begins next week.

07. Love Drought
08. Sandcastles
09. Foerward (ft. James Blake)
