Canadian indie rock musician, Mac DeMarco, has just released the demo version of his song “Rollin’ Like A Dummy.”
The release comes amid several supplications from fans to release the demo version. Unlike many artists, DeMarco listened to his fans’ wishes and released a four-track version of the song on a subreddit.
Along with the release of the song, DeMarco attached a short message detailing all of this, and finishes it off by signing it as everyone’s favorite character to hate, Jar Jar Binks. In addition, DeMarco hints that there will be new music coming out soon.
The song itself is a nice psychedelic tune, similar to most of his music. The instrumentation is similar to the work of George Harrison during his Thirty Three & 1/3 days, but infused with a softer beach-rock sound.
Mac DeMarco hails from the city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. He’s been involved in music for most of his life, and played in several rock bands during his time in high school. After graduation, he started releasing music under the name Makeout Videotape. Eventually, he started releasing solo work under his own name.
He released his first studio album in 2012 and has released two studio albums in total, and one EP. Last year, DeMarco released a mini-LP, Another One, and included eight songs.
This year, Mac DeMarco will continue touring across the world. He will be making stops at several festivals including the famed UK festival, Glastonbury.
