AC/DC ‘Rock Or Bust’ Tour Continues With Axl Rose On Lead Vocals

AC/DC was forced to reschedule their tour dates earlier this month after singer Brian Johnson was reportedly told by doctor that he could suffer permanent hearing loss if he did not immediately cease touring. Just a few weeks later, a photo of Axl Rose at the same Atlanta recording studio as AC/DC led to rampant speculation that he would not only reunite with the core members of Guns ‘N Roses, but also become the newest frontman for the Australian riff-maestros. While most outlets pooh-poohed those ideas as rumor-mongering, it appears they are 100 percent accurate.

Today, just hours before Guns ‘N Roses takes the stage (with Axl Rose seated in Dave Grohl’s Rock God Throne after breaking his foot), an announcement came that Rose would in fact be that guest vocalist that allows AC/DC to continue on their tour.

The tour dates will begin again on May 7 when the band performs with Axl Rose in Lisbon, Portugal at the Passeio Maritimo De Alges.

The band released the following statement about Brian Johnson’s decision to leave the band:

“AC/DC band members would like to thank Brian Johnson for his contributions and dedication to the band throughout the years. We wish him all the best with his hearing issues and future ventures.  As much as we want this tour to end as it started, we understand, respect and support Brian’s decision to stop touring and save his hearing.  We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment.”

This announcement does not have any affect on the upcoming Guns ‘N Roses “Not In This Lifetime” stadium tour, which commences after AC/DC’s final June 12 concert in Denmark.
