The All Tomorrow’s Parties festival was meant to take place over the next two weekends at the Prestatyn Holiday Centre in the Pontins region of North Wales. However, scheduling difficulties prompted the event to be moved 65 miles away to Manchester. Amid many complaints, another disappointing announcement has come today. Welsh composer, multi-instrumentalist, and Velvet Underground co-founder John Cale announced today via Twitter that he will no longer be performing at the festival.
Cale was scheduled to perform on April 16th and April 22nd at Victoria Warehouse, but promptly stated that these dates have been cancelled. He also said in the tweet, “We did our best to believe in the organizers, in the end, they let us all down.” He did not expand on this statement and the organizers have not publicly commented on Cale’s removal from the lineup, but one can assume it pertains to the festival’s past disorganized nature. According to Stereogum, this is not the first time that All Tomorrow’s Parties have been messy with event details. In 2014, the same organizers cancelled London’s Jabberwocky Festival three days before it started, much to the dismay of the fans and artists.
Despite Cale’s departure from the festival, the lineup still hosts a wide variety of exciting names and events. Artists such as Hot Snakes, King Khan and the Shrines, Rocket From the Crypt, The Monkeywrench and many more are scheduled to perform at Victoria’s Warehouse during the ATP 2.0 Festival Curated By Drive Like Jehu showcase.
