New Zealand multi-instrumentalist Ladyhawke, has announced her new album, Wild Things, set to be released this summer.
Wild Things will be be Ladyhawke’s third studio album. It’s been a couple years since she’s released an album, as her last one, Anxiety, was released in 2012.
The new album is set to be released June 3rd, 2016 via Polyvinyl, and a music video for her new single has already been released. The single, “A Love Song,” is a pretty and catchy synth-pop tune, and it’s definitely a song that will nestle perfectly into the upcoming summer days. The song is more pop heavy than her previous material, with catchy hooks and a jumpy beat.
The accompanying video is bright, neon and fun. It centers around a 90s video rental store and emphasizes youthful love and fun. The video was directed by Youth Hymns who has also directed videos for Wolf Alice and Vant. Take a look at the wildly joyful video below.
Ladyhawke was born as Phillipa Margaret “Pip” Brown in Masterton, New Zealand, and came from a very musical family. Before starting her solo career, Brown was in a couple bands such as Two Lane Blacktop and Teenager. In 2008, she released her self-titled debut album and received critical acclaim. In total, she has released three studio albums and two EPs.
