65daysofstatic Announces New Soundtrack Album No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe For Upcoming Video Game No Man’s Sky

65daysofstatic is all set to release the official soundtrack to one of the most anticipated games of the year, No Man’s Sky, on June 17th.

No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe will be the group’s seventh album and the first since 2013’s critically acclaimed Wild Light. The highly-anticipated record is not just the soundtrack for video game, but an exciting new chapter for 65daysofstatic. The group has dabbled in soundtrack and composition work in the past, as their fifth album Silent Running served as a rescore of the 1972 sci-fi film of the same name. However, the new record is arguably one of the most exciting projects ever taken on by 65daysofstatic. It will be comprised of 10 original songs as well as an additional collection of soundscapes and sound design, exclusive to this release.

According to the press release, the band is very excited about the release of No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe and feels the project has forced them to push the limits and explore the way they see themselves as artists. Read the quote below.

65daysofstatic say ‘Being involved with No Man’s Sky is as unlikely as it is exciting. Two years of our lives have disappeared into a black hole and we’ve been spat out into another dimension. The project has pushed us to explore new processes and techniques, to rethink our relationship with our own music and to essentially soundtrack every narrative thread of a ‘choose your own adventure’ novel that exists only in our minds. We’re really proud of the results, and can’t wait to release the album and play it live.’

Since the formation of 65daysofstatic in 2001, the quartet has evolved and developed a sound that is entirely their own. The mix of thrashing guitars, extreme electro and occasional flat-out weirdness has allowed them to release six albums that never leave listeners feeling bored. No Man’s Sky: Music for an Infinite Universe is now available for pre-order at the Laced Records official website, and be sure to check out upcoming UK tour dates below!
