Kurt Vile Announces Summer 2016 Tour Dates

Kurt Vile continues to expand on his previously announced tour dates in support of his latest album b’lieve i’m going down… The singer-songwriter is currently in the midwest for shows in Milwaukee, WI and Champaign, IL before moving his way south for performances in Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, among others. Vile will then fly overseas for a slew of shows across Europe from June until the end of July. He will wrap things up stateside at the end of August. See full itinerary below.

Vile’s schedule has been filling up fast, as he has been busy promoting his album, contributing to collaborative album Parallelogram with Steve Gunn, releasing small Spotify sessions album, and adding more dates to his world travels since November. He has previously announced an in-depth tour that includes stops along the festival circuit and an appearance at the KCRW Festival in the Hollywood Bowl this August.

b’lieve i’m going down… is Vile’s sixth studio album. The singer continued to grow in popularity after releasing his existential hit single “Pretty Pimpin” last year. Both the single and album were lauded by critics and featured on many year-end lists in 2015 for his wry lyrics and sing-speak delivery. Despite the consistent praise, he remains something of a cult figure with a loyal band of followers.Vile’s biggest influences include Pavement, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Tom Petty, and John Fahey.

While the singer-writer has been getting noticed by music fans, his career extends further than many realize. Vile played music since he received his first instrument from his father – a banjo. Wanting to be a guitarist, he played the banjo as if it was one, until he received his first guitar. In 2003, he began to produce music professionally with his old friend Adam Granducial. Two years later, The War On Drugs was born. The group worked on their sound for several years and in 2008 released their debut, Wagonwheel Blues. While The War On Drugs later went on to achieve a great deal of success spanning several years, Vile enjoyed little of it first-hand with the band. The two separated amicably and Vile began to pursue a solo career. In 2008 he released his debut album, Constant Hitmaker.

Vile’s audience has grown over the years and his music has been climbing the charts since 2013 after dropping the more focused, classic rock-inspired Walkin on a Pretty Daze. The album spawn the rell-recieved single “KV Crimes.” Two years later, he followed up the album with b’lieve i’m going down… Vile evolves his perspectives, but much his style has remained remarkably consistent over the years: you can always expect a heady, introspective record from him, with a spaced-out folksy vibe.
