TWENTY88, the new project from multi-platinum artists and frequent collaborators Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, made their debut television performance last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The duo performed “Selfish,” a new song from their brand new joint album Twenty88.
The performance saw Big Sean and Aiko prancing about on a stage full of dry ice. The two singers played the role of lovers who are frustrated with each other yet can’t seem to get enough, which may or may not be relevant to their professional relationship. While Big Sean is known for his numerous collaborations with other artists, it is clear that he particularly enjoys working with Aiko. Their past collaborations have included the songs “Beware,” from his 2013 album Hall Of Fame, and “I Know,” from 2015’s Dark Sky Paradise.
The performance was eerily similar to the past work of both artists, which further shows just how compatible they work together. Fans can now hear their joint effort, Twenty88, which was released today and is now available for commercial download. However, the record will be streaming on Tidal until April 5 only. According to the press release, the album “tells the story of the highs and lows of a relationship, with insights into conflict, memories, love, sex, and more and features production from Key Wane, Detail and Tommy Brown.”
Big Sean and Jhene Aiko are both superstars in their own right. Sean is a Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist with multiple platinum albums and nearly a billion views on YouTube, while Aiko has been featured on singles and albums with A-listers such as Kendrick Lamar, Wale, Logic, J. Cole, Drake and many more. Of course, it is when they come together that that magic truly happens.
