The preliminary lineup for Glastonbury has been revealed, and there’s some big names out there, including Muse, Foals, and Beck. Muse, Adele, and Coldplay will be the three main headliners. The UK festival will take place from June 22nd to the 26th at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset located in England. Glastonbury is a renowned arts and music festival that typically features over 200 artists, so expect many more acts to be announced as the date draws nearer. It is one of the first and also one of the longest-running festivals out there in the world. The founder of the festival, Michael Eavis, has also promised a tribute to David Bowie, where they will screen a main stage performance of his from 2000.
English rock band Muse has been around since 1994, and they’ve put out seven studio albums throughout the span of their career. Their latest one, Drones, was released last summer, and it was an attempt to bring the band back to their simpler guitar-bass-drums rock sound from their earlier albums. Drones is a concept album that focuses on a protagonist’s journey from abandonment to indoctrination as a “human drone”, with eventual defection. It won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album at this year’s Grammys.
Foals, an indie rock band from Oxford, England, formed back in 2005 with four studio albums released so far. What Went Down is their latest one, which came out at the end of last summer. Frontman Yannis Philippakis stated that it was their loudest and heaviest record yet. It also is their highest charting album in the U.S. so far and received favorable reviews from critics. The band is also recognized as one of the top UK live acts, so they will most definitely be putting on a great show at Glastonbury.
Though Beck has been around since the 1990s, he’s really risen to fame as of this past year, winning three Grammys at last year’s award show, one of them being his album Morning Phase which won Album of the Year. Morning Phase is the American singer-songwriter’s latest album, his ninth official studio album so far. He is lined up to play at the New Orleans Jazz Festival which is steadily approaching. And recently, he covered the song “The Man Who Sold the World” with former members of Nirvana.
