Dust off your fedora and your checkered shoes, New York City -The Specials are headed on tour this spring and will be playing at Terminal 5 this September 9th.
The esteemed ska band recently announced a list of fall tour dates earlier this month which will begin at none other than Terminal 5 in New York City. The US tour currently only has six scheduled dates but the band says that there will be more added to the list in the near future. The band has also announced a full-length UK tour that will begin in October.
Formed in 1977, The Specials are arguably one of the most influential bands to come out of the ska and punk genre. The British band has had their ups and downs over the years (just like most bands from the UK) but have still maintained their influential style and the unofficial Godfathers of ska.
Sadly, this will be the band’s first tour without their veteran drummer, John Bradbury, who died in December last year. The loss of Bradbury, who has been with the band since 1979, was a devastating loss to the band and fans around the world. Gray Powell, drummer of the Libertines, will be filling the role for the duration of the tour.
If you want to catch The Specials at Terminal 5 this September 9th, you better hurry – tickets went on sale last Friday. Tickets are currently on sale for $45 on Ticketmaster. This show is definitely expected to sell out so don’t wait up! Pick up your tickets soon before they’re gone.
