Neon Indian released a new video for their track “Techno Clique” from the album VEGA INTL. Night School. The video was produced by Super Deluxe and directed by Derrick Beckles (aka TV Carnage). Additional production and special affects were done by Nick Den Boer (aka Smearballs).

The video was made while on a stop in Los Angeles during a recent tour. It features a party, possibly celebrating retirement due to the age of the crowd. Everyone is dancing to Alan Palano’s DJ beats and there is a large amount of meat being served for party hors d’oeuvres. Eventually, things start to go wrong because lots of meat and dancing do not mix well, and the rest is history.

When talking about how the album got its name, Palano told Pitchfork: “Most of what I’ve learned about human nature in my twenties has happened after dark, People are just kind of more honest then. More deliberate. I like to call the places I go to Night Schools.”

He gained much of his inspiration from traveling across America, crashing in various locations and restarting albums. Palano has mentioned in several different interviews that the original album he was working was stolen, when he fell asleep on his front door step while locked out and drunk. During his slumber, someone stole the laptop, along with the music he had saved on it. He said that though he does not recommend sleeping while drunk on a front stoop, he was glad that it had happened. This is because it led him down a different path to create a completely new kind of album, that he believes he is much happier with. Palano said that he found much of his inspiration through time spent in LA and observing and/or partaking in the night life there.

Neon Indian knows how to bring a unique flair to the bands image and you can definitely see that with everything he has done with this album so far- even this video. Just after the release of his album, Palano released a short film featuring his song Slumlord. He also released a hotline number, that when called one can hear a special greeting from Palano.
