Straight Adrenaline
After six long years, The Qemists have come out with their third album Warrior Sound and it has been well worth the wait. During those six years, the group has grown from its original three members to five members making Warrior Sound to be the first album to include Oliver Simmons and Bruno Balanta.
Warrior Sound opens with “Our World,” complete with it’s strong, very dramatic intro. The voice over sequence about the world being driven by truth sets the album up for the intensity that follows through with the rest of the songs. “Jungle” follows next, fast pace, harsh, yet still able to move, and overall an amazing rock anthem. “Run You” offers a nice contrast between the lighter electronic parts and the harsher sounding lyrics and guitar and is filled with strong buildups. Warrior Sound keeps following these patterns of powerful rock anthems up until “Push the Line” where the sound starts to lean towards EDM side of the spectrum. “We Are the Problem” and title track “Warrior Sound” also fall in line with keeping more towards the drum and bass roots that The Qemists were founded on. Warrior Sound closes out with “Requiem” which still contains tons of energy but keeps a pace that allows the album to come to a close.
Simply, Warrior Sound is a strong powerful album from beginning to end. It is one of those albums that just keeps building more and more energy, never letting anything come down. Through the addition of members, more depth has been and the sound has been developed to always expand while remaining cohesive and never falling apart. A new type of energy has been found in Warrior Sound. And more so, this is an album of balance as well as energy. With Warrior Sound, there seems to be more of a balance between the rock sound and the drum and bass sound, while their previous albums were more centered around the drum and bass. Overall, Warrior Sound shows that The Qemists are moving forward in a very positive way.
