Atlanta punk festival Wrecking Ball is back this year with it’s second annual installment. The lineup, released today, is stacked from top to bottom with is intriguing due to the inclusion of a few newly reunited acts.
The festival, which takes place on August 13 and 14 in Atlanta, Georgia, features boasts Motion City Soundtrack (who are in the process of taking their last victory lap, the recently regrouped American Football, L7, Drive Like Jehu, and and the Mezingers, among others.
New Jersey post-hardcore band Thursday, which announced their reconciliation today, will play their first show since 2011 at the festival.
Massachusetts alternative band Piebald will be playing their first show since 2010 and only their third show since their 2008 split.
Milwaukee pop-punk outfit Hey Mercedes will be playing their first show since their 2007 breakup.
The cool thing about Wrecking Ball is their clear commitment to blending different aspects of indie music into their lineup. 90’s mainstays like American Football, Dinosaur Jr and Diarrhea Planet will be joined by contemporary hardcore/alternative acts like Joyce Manor and Ceremony. This is very similar to what we saw from last years lineup, which included acts like the Descendents and Title Fight.
