Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, also known by the stage name The Tallest Man On Earth, has announced that he is going on tour this summer throughout the U.S. and Europe. It will start on May 29th in Wisconsin and end on September 5th in Finland. Along the way, he will also be playing at several European festivals as part of his tour. Matsson has been around since 2005 with four studio albums released so far. His most recent release was Dark Bird Is Home, the first album of his to feature full band playing on almost every track, not the norm for the solo artist. The album received positive reviews from critics – here’s one review of it.

Matsson is known for the charisma he clearly displays when performing on stage, and he is also known for the unique ways he records his albums. He records and produces them in whatever home he is currently living in at the time. He also rarely records the guitar and voice parts separately because he believes they have such a strong connection, it’s best to record them at the same time. When married to Amanda Bergman (known as Idiot Wind), the two wrote music for the Swedish drama film Once A Year.

Along with announcing tour dates, Matsson also shared an eight-minute documentary about his latest album Dark Bird Is Home, called A Short Film About Dark Bird Is Home. The video was directed by Dan Huiting and Lauren Josephine, and it displays clips of Matsson in the studio and outdoors in Sweden. He narrates the film in both Swedish and English to talk about what it was like recording the album in the summer. He also talks about his shared vision with his recording partner, BJ Burton, along with his friends who helped with the album. Check out the video below, as well as his summer tour dates.
