American indie folk band Bon Iver has been busy on their first-ever Asian tour recently, but they found time to perform stripped down version of “Flume” with The Staves, an English acoustic folk rock trio of sisters. The Staves toured with Bon Iver throughout Asia, and today shared a video of both groups backstage preparing for their show in Hong Kong on March 8th. “Flume” is from Bon Iver’s debut studio album For Emma, Forever Ago released in 2008. The backstage ideo was filmed before the trio’s last gig with Bon Iver in Hong Kong back in August.
Justin Vernon, founder and singer-songwriter of Bon Iver, said awhile ago that he was thinking that the band was “winding down.” Back in 2012, after winning the Grammy for Best New Artist, it really seemed like he was going to stick to his word. However, he recently announced last month that he has been working on new music with his band, a chance for his fans to experience fresh music. The group played two new songs last year at Eaux Claires in Wisconsin, so the fans would love to hear more new material. Their last album was Bon Iver, Bon Iver back in 2011.
The Staves have released several EPs and other albums in the span of their career. They’ve been around since their first release in 2010, their Facing West EP. And they seem to be working on new music, because just last month they released a new video for their song “Horizons.” The trio of sisters are best known for their harmonization and instrumentation.
