LISTEN: Soulwax Releases New Song “Prayer to Saint Thérèse” Featuring Chloe Sevigny

Soulwax, the long running and acclaimed electronic group from Belgium, have released a new song on their Soundcloud page. The song is a remix of “Prayer to Saint Thérèse” with an alternative title of “Heaven Scent” and it features actress/model Chloe Sevigny. The song was originally posted to the group’s Twitter page with a broken link to Soundcloud. The URL was cleaned up and re-posted via Reddit.

The song is referred to as “A Sonic Poem by Regime des Fleurs (featuring Chloe Sevigny)” in the notes on the Soundcloud page. It goes on to mention there are “versions by: SoulWax, Peaking Lights, Io Echo, JD Twitch, The Love & Trust Collective, Johnny Jewel, and Dukes of Chutney”. The entire background of the project can be found at SHOWstudio’s website. The project is described as an exploration of the interplay between music and fashion, and is sponsored by Régime Des Fleurs, a prominent Los Angeles fragrance company. The track was originally scored by DJ Michel Gaubert and then remixed by Soulwax and others.

The song has a fairly minimalist quality, with a shuffling beat and repetitive keyboard bleeping that back Sevigny’s spoken word. The vibe is very cool and laid-back, but Soulwax add a slightly sinister touch with some of the mid-song keyboard riffs.

Soulwax consists of members David Dewaele, Stephen Dewaele and Stefaan Van Leuven. Their most recent release was this year’s film soundtrack, BelgicaThat album featured the band taking on various personas throughout the track listing, complete with new band names like The Shitz, White Virgins, Kursat 9000 and Aquazul. The band recently released the song “Ti Recordi Di Me” from the album under the moniker Erasmus.

The song includes artwork with Sevigny topless, draped with a wreath (note that the link below is not functional):
