Deftones Will Replace Ray LaMontagne As The Thursday Outdoor Stage Headliner at SXSW 2016

Ray LaMontagne was scheduled to perform as the headliner at the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake this Thursday, March 17. Not only was he going to perform his latest album, Ouroboros in full, he was going to do so with members of My Morning Jacket (whose Jim James co-produced the album). However, according to the SXSW website, due to illness LaMontagne will not be able to perform.

It is regrettable for us to report that Ray LaMontagne has to cancel his performance on the SXSW Outdoor Stage due to illness. He was scheduled to perform tomorrow, Thursday, March 17, at the SXSW Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake.

Luckily for music fans, seminal alternative rock band Deftones will fill in as the headliners on Thursday. The band is gearing up to release their eight full length studio album, Gore, this month on April 8. Earlier today they released a new song from the album, “Doomed User.” The song was debuted week ago at a live show in Costa Mesa, CA.

The rest of the lineup will remain the same, with Carson McHome, Parker Millsap, Brian Fallon and Thao & The Get Down Stay Down getting things started before Deftones take the stage. The outdoor stage will continue on Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 with performances by big names like Wolfmother and Coheed & Cambria.

The Outdoor Stage at Lady Bird Lake was formerly known as the Auditorium Shores Stage and is located at 800 W Riverside Drive in Austin. With the capacity to hold over 50,000 attendees, the stage is the largest at the music festival.

The event is free to the public with a SXSW Guest Pass. Badgeholders and Wristband holders do not need a Guest Pass to gain access. The stage is all-ages.
